I will go as far as to say Earthbound was the best SNES game produced. (rivaling Chrono Trigger, Zelda, and Mario). You can basically throw out any concept you ever had of “RPG” when you start playing this. The game is hilarious and the best RPG out there. Your main weapon is a baseball bat and yoyo. You don’t stock up on potions, you stock up on pizza, cheeseburgers and cheesy-peanuty bars.

• solving a town’s zombie problem
• freeing a race of aliens enslaved by a talking pile of puke

• being taught by a talking monkey how to teleport
• having your soul transplanted into the body of a robot in order to facilitate time travel

I’m currently playing its sequel, Mother3, as the translation patch is now out. If the game is ever officially released over seas, I’ll buy it. The game is a little more serious than its predecessor….kinda…. you do tackle a T-Rex within the first minute of gameplay. In short, IT IS AMAZING.
